Governor Abbott has developed a plan for revamping the funding of PreK-12 education in Texas. Three members of his policy team will present the plan to our PPAC meeting on December 7th. The plan contains many of the same ideas expected to come out of the Special Commission on Education Funding which has been meeting during the interim. The success of Dallas ISD in improving achievement scores and dramatically reducing the number of failing schools in their district has influenced the plan. The work of the Commit Foundation has also had influence on the Governor’s thinking.
